Familiar Review: Stab Bat

22 12 2009

I know, I said I wouldn’t review the Stab Bat, but I feel like it for one important reason… the Stab Bat trophy you can get by ascending with a level 20 Stab Bat as your familiar.

The Stab Bat attacks during combat (yawn) and also attacks you about 1/3 of the time (nice… real nice).  However, with a Shock Collar, the Stab Bat attacks you less often (maybe once every 5 or 6 turns).  The ONLY redeeming value of the Stab Bat is the trophy, but that is pretty redeeming.

The Blood Faced Volleyball and Hovering Sombrero are EXTREMELY useful, so much so, that they make using other familiars (except for select Mr. Store familiars) a waste of time.  In that sense, they ruin the fun of having a wild managerie of familiars with different attacks, powers, etc. Seriously, I have a TON of familiars and, until now, only a handful of them got played… but from now on, I am not using the Blood Faced Volleyball or Hovering Sombrero… Rock Lobster? Yup. Stinky Gravy Fairy? Of course! Angry goat? Well, maybe not. Cocoabo? Certainly! Ghost Pickle on a Stick? Without a doubt!  Down with Wilsson and Mr. Hat! Up with weird, multi-talented familiars!

Grades: (5 = A, 1 = F)

Usefulness: 1 (Attacks you 1/3 of the time… do I need to go on?)

Ease of Acquisition: 5 (Readily available)

Uniqueness: 1 (Another attack familiar with a small animal theme)

Total Grade: 2.3 D+
